Near Florence. Work Zone Construction Activities. I-75 NC. U.S. 42 Bridge (13.9 mile-marker) over I-71/75 (180 mile-marker) ? A project is in progress that will add a new westbound lane and pedestrian sidewalk will begin. A project is in progress that will add a new westbound lane and pedestrian sidewalk will begin. The traffic pattern for the first phase of work has been set One lane in each direction on I-71/75 is closed within the project area, specifically: The far left lane of travel on I-71/75 northbound is closed for approximately one-quarter mile at the US 42 interchange, and The far-right lane of travel on I-71/75 southbound is closed for approximately one-quarter mile at the US 42 interchange. In addition, both shoulders in both directions are closed within the project area. Also, traffic on US 42 westbound is shifted to the north while crews work on widening the south side of the roadway. No permanent lane closures on US 42 are anticipated while this work takes place. This travel pattern is expected to remain in place through late August. Motorists should watch for lane closures, crews, and equipment in the work zone.

Near Wilmington until Jun 16. An intersection improvement and urban paving project on U.S. Route 22 (Rombach Avenue) in Wilmington. On Thursday, June 3, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation started construction of a two-part project that will rehabilitation and improve Rombach Avenue between Eastside Drive and the Wilmington corporation limit near the S.R. 73 interchange. The entire project, which is outlined over two parts, includes constructing a loon at Progress Way; improving the radius at Lowe's Drive; improving the signalization at Walmart Drive; reconstructing degraded portions of curb, walk, drainage structures and pavement; constructing approximately 4,800 feet of a shared-use path; and resurfacing nearly three miles of Rombach Avenue between Eastside Drive and the Wilmington corporation limit. During the first phase of the project, crews' efforts will be directed toward the storm sewer, water and sanitary lines, as well as pavement repairs and curb, sidewalk, and intersection work at Lowes Drive and Progress Way. The right lanes of Rombach Avenue will be closed in both directions through the work zone, and traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane in each direction, and a two-way left-turn will also be maintained. The John R. Jurgensen Company was awarded a contract for approximately $9.3 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2022. 227(21) BC
Near Lebanon until Nov 1. As part of the multi-phase bridge rehabilitation and trail construction project along S.R. 48 and East Turtlecreek-Union Road, the bridge on East Turtlecreek-Union Road will be closed next month for 150 days. Beginning Monday, June 13, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will close the bridge on East Turtlecreek-Union Road over S.R. 48 to replace the existing concrete deck on the bridge. During closure, traffic will be detoured via Bypass S.R. 48. Along with replacing the deck, work includes increasing vertical clearance under the bridge, and performing other minor maintenance. The overall project also includes construction of a multi-use path from Deerfield Road across the new bridge deck to Cornett Road, and improvements to S.R. 48 for shoulder restoration. Along with this project is a trail extension of the Countryside YMCA Trail along Deerfield Road, from E. Turtlecreek-Union Road to Forge Road. This phase of the project will provide a connection to the existing Lebanon Bike Park, as well as add an overland multi-use path along S.R. 48, from E. Turtlecreek-Union Road to Shattuck Avenue. Eagle Bridge Company was awarded a contract in the amount of $4.3 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in late fall of this year. (#22-155)
