. Work Zone Construction Activities. I-64 RAMP from I-65. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of an Interstate 65 South lane closure Saturday, March 5, in Jefferson County. The left shoulder and lane is blocked at mile marker 136, just past the Kennedy Bridge. One lane remains open. Crews are continuing to repair roadway damage caused by a coil of steel that came off a truck earlier in the week. Motorists should heed signage, use caution while traveling through the work zone or seek an alternate route. The traffic pattern for the first phase of work has been set One lane in each direction on I-71/75 is closed within the project area, specifically: The far left lane of travel on I-71/75 northbound is closed for approximately one-quarter mile at the US 42 interchange, and The far-right lane of travel on I-71/75 southbound is closed for approximately one-quarter mile at the US 42 interchange. In addition, both shoulders in both directions are closed within the project area. Also, traffic on US 42 westbound is shifted to the north while crews work on widening the south side of the roadway. No permanent lane closures on US 42 are anticipated while this work takes place. This travel pattern is expected to remain in place through late August. Motorists should watch for lane closures, crews, and equipment in the work zone.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) today announced the updated schedule for several temporary ramp closures that will be put into place for the Texas Turnaround project. On Monday, April 11, at approximately 9 p.m., weather permitting, the entrance ramp to I-71/75 northbound from Pike St. will be closed for 180 days. A detour route will be put into place and marked with signage. Traffic will be directed to follow Bullock St. to I-71/75 southbound to Kyles Ln., and then reenter I-71/75 northbound. Also, on Monday, April 11, at approximately 9 p.m., weather permitting, the exit ramp from I-71/75 northbound to 5th St. will be closed for 180 days. A detour route will be put into place and marked with signage. Traffic will be directed to use the 12th St. exit from I-71/75 northbound to Simon Kenton Way to Pike St. to Main St. to 5th St. KYTC also noted that access to the entrance ramp to I-71/75 northbound from 4th St. will not immediately be impacted, and is not anticipated to close until closer to project completion, which is expected by the end of the year. until Nov 1. As part of the multi-phase bridge rehabilitation and trail construction project along S.R. 48 and East Turtlecreek-Union Road, the bridge on East Turtlecreek-Union Road will be closed next month for 150 days.
Beginning Monday, June 13, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will close the bridge on East Turtlecreek-Union Road over S.R. 48 to replace the existing concrete deck on the bridge.
During closure, traffic will be detoured via Bypass S.R. 48.
Along with replacing the deck, work includes increasing vertical clearance under the bridge, and performing other minor maintenance. The overall project also includes construction of a multi-use path from Deerfield Road across the new bridge deck to Cornett Road, and improvements to S.R. 48 for shoulder restoration.
Along with this project is a trail extension of the Countryside YMCA Trail along Deerfield Road, from E. Turtlecreek-Union Road to Forge Road. This phase of the project will provide a connection to the existing Lebanon Bike Park, as well as add an overland multi-use path along S.R. 48, from E. Turtlecreek-Union Road to Shattuck Avenue.
Eagle Bridge Company was awarded a contract in the amount of $4.3 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in late fall of this year.
