Until November 30, 2023 at about 6:00PM EST St. Joseph County Contract:B-40600 DES: 1701538 US 31 and US 20 Interchange New Bridge and Road Construction until fall of 2023 Current height restriction of 14'6" until fall of 2023 Starting March 27, 2023 traffic is restricted on US 31 between Johnson Road and Barbie Street. with a lane width of only 11 feet. The inside lanes are closed to construct temporary crossovers, and traffic will utilize the outside lanes. During that construction phase all ramps and loops will remain open. On or after April 6, 2023 the southbound lane of US 31 will be transitioned to the inside lane, and the outside lane will be closed for Shoulder reconstruction. This will be done between Ireland Road and Johnson Road. During that phase all ramps and loops will remain open. On or about April 19, 2023 all traffic will be switched to the southbound lanes of US 31 utilizing the new crossovers and the northbound lanes will be reconstructed. During this phase of construction northbound and southbound US 31 will be restricted to 11 foot lane width. While traffic is in the southbound lanes the loop for northbound US 31 traffic to northbound US 31 and westbound US 20 be closed and traffic will have to detour to SR 331 and back. Also the loop for eastbound on US 20 to northbound Michigan Street will be closed and traffic will also have to detour SR 331 and back.
