Near Covington. Work Zone Construction Activities. I-75 RAMP to KY 8. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) today announced the updated schedule for several temporary ramp closures that will be put into place for the Texas Turnaround project. On Monday, April 11, at approximately 9 p.m., weather permitting, the entrance ramp to I-71/75 northbound from Pike St. will be closed for 180 days. A detour route will be put into place and marked with signage. Traffic will be directed to follow Bullock St. to I-71/75 southbound to Kyles Ln., and then reenter I-71/75 northbound. Also, on Monday, April 11, at approximately 9 p.m., weather permitting, the exit ramp from I-71/75 northbound to 5th St. will be closed for 180 days. A detour route will be put into place and marked with signage. Traffic will be directed to use the 12th St. exit from I-71/75 northbound to Simon Kenton Way to Pike St. to Main St. to 5th St. KYTC also noted that access to the entrance ramp to I-71/75 northbound from 4th St. will not immediately be impacted, and is not anticipated to close until closer to project completion, which is expected by the end of the year. Near Newport until Sep 2. Districtwide bridge repair project. The project includes rehabilitating the bridges over Eggleston Avenue and Culvert Street by repairing the substructure, painting steel girders and replacing expansion joints. The Eagle Bridge Company was awarded a contract for approximately $2.27 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed by early summer of 2022.
Near Mulberry until Aug 31. Interstate 275 project to install fiber optic cable and CCTV cameras at multiple locations along the corridor in Hamilton and Clermont counties. Over the course of the next few months, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be installing single-mode fiber optic cable and CCTV cameras at various sites between the I-74 and U.S. 27 interchanges; between the U.S. 22/Montgomery Road and S.R. 28 interchanges; and between the S.R. 32 and U.S. 52 interchanges. On Monday, May 23, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will close S.R. 132 between S.R. 48 and S.R. 28. Traffic will be detoured via S.R. 132, S.R. 48 and S.R. 28. Work on a slide repair project on state Route 126 at the city of Reading corporation limit requires daily lane restrictions in place on the route. Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation have begun daily lane closures on S.R. 126, just east of the Ridge Road/Columbia Avenue interchange, to mobilize equipment onto the project site. Traffic will be maintained in the work zone. Sunesis Construction Co. was awarded a contract for $461,000 to repair the slide and perform related culvert outlet work, and all work is scheduled to be completed by late fall of 2022. (#22--54)
Near Sixteen Mile Stand until Jun 1, 2023. Restrictions will be in place on Fields-Ertel Road two nights this week as part of the interchange expansion project at Mason-Montgomery Road and southbound Interstate 71 in Warren County. On Wednesday and Thursday, May 18 and 19, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will close Fields-Ertel Road under I-71 to place formwork for the new structure that is being built as part of the project. The closure will go into effect at 11 p.m. each night, and the route will be reopened at 5 a.m. the following day. While Fields-Ertel is closed, motorists will be detoured via Escort Drive and Mason-Montgomery Road. Along with a new bridge over Fields-Ertel, the total project includes construction of an entrance ramp from Mason-Montgomery Road to I-71 South; a new southbound turn lane on Mason-Montgomery from Escort Drive to the ramp; and an entrance taper on I-71 South, between the Fields-Ertel Road bridge and the existing ramp from Fields-Ertel. The Eagle Bridge Company was awarded a contract for approximately $4.7 million to undertake the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed by late spring of 2023. (#21-301)
Near Glendale until May 30, 2025. Interstate 75/Thru the Valley mega project. As part of the Interstate 75/Thru the Valley project, the following overnight lane and ramp closures will be in effect on Interstate 75 and at the Sharon Road exit this week. On Monday, May 23, the ramp from Sharon Road to I-75 South will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 24. Then, on the following night, the ramp from Sharon to I-75 North will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 25. In addition to the ramp closures, single-lane closures will be in effect in either direction from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night. Near Sharonville until Oct 31. Operations have resumed for a safety and interchange improvement project on U.S. Route 42 (Lebanon Road) at Interstate 275 in Sharonville, and restrictions will be imparted as part of the next phase of construction. On Friday, April 1, Hauck Road was closed for up to 90 days while contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation replace a culvert and conduct roadway improvements at the railroad crossing near the Reading Road intersection. The project, which began last year, has been rolled out in two parts, with Part 1 calling for he addition of a dedicated right thru-lane on southbound U.S. 42 at Hauck Road and ramp improvements at the I-275 interchange. Part 2 includes widening Hauck Road to three lanes to add a center, two-way, left-turn lane, as well as curb and gutter installation; culvert replacement; railroad crossing improvements; storm sewer system replacement; and sidewalk construction on the north side of Hauck Road. It is during Part 2 construction that Hauck Road will be closed, and while it is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of Reading Road, Kemper Road and U.S. 42 (Lebanon Road). Complete General Construction Co. was awarded a contract for approximately $8.9 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in early fall of 2022. 341(21)

Phase 5A of the Mill Creek Expressway project, which includes adding a lane on I-75 South, providing four-lane continuity on I-75 North and reconfiguring the I-74 East ramps to I-75, is scheduled to be completed on (or before) August 30, 2022. Tuesday, May 31: Single-lane closure on I-74 West from I-75 North to Montana Avenue, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 1. Closure of the ramp from I-75 South to I-74 West, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured via the Hopple Street interchange. Single-lane closure on I-75 North, between the Western Hills Viaduct and I-74, from 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., followed by a double-lane closure from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and a triple-lane closure from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Single-lane closure on I-74 East, between Montana Avenue and I-75, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Short-term (15 minute) full closure of I-75 north between the Western Hills Viaduct and I-74, from midnight (12:01 a.m.) to 4 a.m. Wednesday. Wednesday & Thursday, June 2: Single-lane closure on I-74 West from I-75 North to Montana Avenue, each night between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following day. Closure of the ramp from I-75 South to I-74 West, from 10 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. the following day. Traffic will be detoured via the Hopple Street interchange. Closure of the ramp from I-74 West to Beekman Street, from 10 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. the following day. Near Batavia until May 31. Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) at state Route 32 and Bauer Road in Clermont County. Operations continue at the Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) at state Route 32 and Bauer Road, and lane restrictions are in effect this week for paving work. Nightly lane closures will be in place on S.R. 32 East and West near Bauer Road while contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation place final surface course of asphalt. Weather permitting, crews will be working from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and the evening and overnight lane restrictions will be in effect in either direction through Saturday, May 21. The entire project is scheduled for completion in early summer, and all remaining work will be contingent upon the weather. All signals at the intersection and U-turns have been activated to stop-and-go operation, and left-turn and cross-over movements from Bauer Road are now prohibited. Motorists traveling from either direction on Bauer Road are required to turn right onto S.R. 32 and either continue on S.R. 32 or proceed to the nearby loon, where they can make a legal U-turn at a one-way signalized crossover to turn on S.R. 32 in the opposite direction or return to Bauer Road. Left-turn movements from S.R. 32 to Bauer Road in either direction continue to be permitted, and traffic at the intersection is controlled by signals as well. Barrett Paving Materials was awarded a contract for approximately $2.4 million to undertake the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2022. Near Silver Grove until Nov 30. A slide repair project along U.S. Route 52 East (Kellogg Avenue) in Hamilton County is slated to begin this week, and the route will be reduced to one lane in the eastbound direction. Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be installing a soldier pile retaining wall along the south side of Kellogg Avenue at Asbury Road, where erosion of the embankment toe by the Ohio River has caused distress to the guardrail and shoulder of the route. On Wednesday, May 11, lane restrictions went go into effect in the eastbound direction while crews install temporary pavement and drainage in preparation for construction. Once complete, traffic will be shifted to the north, and Kellogg Avenue will be reduced to one lane in the eastbound direction through the duration of the project. The Kokosing Construction Company was awarded a contract for approximately $1.6 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in November of 2022.
Near Summerside until Aug 30, 2024. S.R. 32/Bach Buxton Project. Permanent closures have been implemented at Newberry Drive and Fayard Drive at eastbound S.R. 32, and with these local roads closed, motorists will be redirected by way of Elick Lane, Bach Buxton Road and Shayler Road. The Eastern Corridor program includes multiple projects to meet traffic demands, reduce congestion, and improve overall access and safety, and construction of a new interchange at state Route 32 and Bach Buxton Road/Elick Lane is one of the many projects outlined in Segments IV and IVA that will address the growing transportation needs along the S.R. 32 corridor in Clermont County. The S.R. 32/Bach Buxton interchange project will create a new, full-service diamond interchange along S.R. 32 immediately east of the existing Elick Lane intersection by realigning and extending Bach Buxton Road over S.R. 32 and connecting with Old S.R. 74 on the north side. As part of the interchange project, the intersection of Elick Lane at S.R. 32 will be eliminated, and Elick Lane will be turned into a cul-de-sac. Newberry Drive (at the former Thorntons gas station) will also be closed permanently, and three traffic signals within the corridor will be eliminated. Due to safety concerns, the intersection from eastbound S.R. 32 to Fayard Drive was closed Friday, March 11. Westbound S.R. 32 to Fayard Drive will not close until next year. Although it was not scheduled to be implemented at the onset of construction, this is a permanent closure in which Fayard Drive will cul-de-sac at the junction with S.R. 32. Additional phases of the project will include constructing a third, westbound lane on S.R. 32, between the new interchange and Glen Este-Withamsville Road, and realigning Bach Buxton Road between Marian Drive and Clepper Lane. Site preparations are under way with clearing and structure demolition, and traffic along S.R. 32 will continue to be maintained during the initial stages of construction. The closure of Newberry Drive will go into effect this week, and motorists will have access to S.R. 32 by way of Marian Drive and Bach Buxton. The John R. Jurgensen Company was awarded a contract for approximately $42.5 million to undertake the project, and all work is scheduled to be complete in late fall 2024. Beginning Monday, March 21, various lane restrictions are in place on Paddison Road between S.R. 125 and Woodridge Drive for contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation to construct new curb and gutter, and sidewalk along the west side of Paddison Road. The restrictions will be in effect daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through the end of May, and traffic will be maintained with flaggers. On Monday, April 11, the southbound lane of Paddison Road was closed between Woodridge Drive and S.R. 125 for contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation to continue constructing new curb and gutter, and installing sidewalk installation along the west side of Paddison Road. The closure will be in effect through May 30, and traffic will be detoured via Paddison Road, Berkshire Lane and S.R. 125. Barrett Paving Materials, Inc. was awarded a contract for approximately $383,000 to complete the project, which includes the addition of pavement markings, signage and storm sewer improvements, and construction is scheduled to be completed by early fall 2022.
