Construction of an interchange at the routes intersection between Xenia and Beavercreek. The project includes upgrading 1.28 miles of U.S. 35 to a limited-access facility, bridge construction, retaining wall construction, and upgrades to Valley and Trebein roads at the intersection.
As part of a several corridor improvements and a greater thoroughfare plan in Greene County, the project was initiated to ease congestion, enhance traffic flow, and improve safety along the corridor between Xenia and Beavercreek. Since its inception in 2007 and with the assistance of the Greene County Engineer¿s Office, it has progressed through the various stages of development that have included feasibility and environmental studies, engineering, detailed design, environmental, and right of way acquisition.
Construction will get under way this week, with contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation imparting lane restrictions to place portable concrete barrier and close the shoulders of U.S. 35 at the intersection.
Throughout the project, traffic will be maintained on U.S. 35; however, lane restrictions will be in effect in either direction, and intermittent, short-term periods closure may also be in effect. Turning movements to Valley and Trebein roads will also be restricted, and both routes will be subject to closure during various phases of construction.
The $40.1 million construction project is being funded primarily through the Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC). Along with state and federal funds, local funding commitments from Greene County and Beavercreek Township have totaled 20 percent of the project cost.
The Eagle Bridge Company was awarded a contract in January to build the interchange and complete other roadway improvements, and all work is scheduled to be completed in October 2025.

Shelly & Sands, Inc., has been contracted to replace the bridges over Anderson Fork and Grassy Fork, located between the S.R. 134 overpass and the Greene County line. A contract for $10.35 million was awarded to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2023.

Wilmington until May 31. An intersection improvement and urban paving project on U.S. Route 22 (Rombach Avenue) in Wilmington.
On Thursday, June 3, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation started construction of a two-part project that will rehabilitation and improve Rombach Avenue between Eastside Drive and the Wilmington corporation limit near the S.R. 73 interchange.
The entire project, which is outlined over two parts, includes constructing a loon at Progress Way; improving the radius at Lowe's Drive; improving the signalization at Walmart Drive; reconstructing degraded portions of curb, walk, drainage structures and pavement; constructing approximately 4,800 feet of a shared-use path; and resurfacing nearly three miles of Rombach Avenue between Eastside Drive and the Wilmington corporation limit.
During the first phase of the project, crews' efforts will be directed toward the storm sewer, water and sanitary lines, as well as pavement repairs and curb, sidewalk, and intersection work at Lowes Drive and Progress Way.
The right lanes of Rombach Avenue will be closed in both directions through the work zone, and traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane in each direction, and a two-way left-turn will also be maintained.
The John R. Jurgensen Company was awarded a contract for approximately $9.3 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in spring of 2023.

The entire project calls for concrete patching, bridge railing upgrades and repairs, and asphalt deck overlays on the two bridges over the Little Miami River, as well as pavement repairs and resurfacing S.R. 72 from just north of Turnbull Road at Cedarville to the Clark County line.
Barrett Paving Material, Inc. was awarded a contract for approximately $2.96 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2023.
