Near Covington. Work Zone Construction Activities. I-75 RAMP to KY 8. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) today announced the updated schedule for several temporary ramp closures that will be put into place for the Texas Turnaround project. On Monday, April 11, at approximately 9 p.m., weather permitting, the entrance ramp to I-71/75 northbound from Pike St. will be closed for 180 days. A detour route will be put into place and marked with signage. Traffic will be directed to follow Bullock St. to I-71/75 southbound to Kyles Ln., and then reenter I-71/75 northbound. Also, on Monday, April 11, at approximately 9 p.m., weather permitting, the exit ramp from I-71/75 northbound to 5th St. will be closed for 180 days. A detour route will be put into place and marked with signage. Traffic will be directed to use the 12th St. exit from I-71/75 northbound to Simon Kenton Way to Pike St. to Main St. to 5th St. KYTC also noted that access to the entrance ramp to I-71/75 northbound from 4th St. will not immediately be impacted, and is not anticipated to close until closer to project completion, which is expected by the end of the year. Near Hamilton until Jul 31. The Butler County Engineer's Office reports the start of roundabout construction at the Five Points intersection beginning Mon., March 14. The first construction phase requires a 60-day closure of Hancock Avenue from the intersection to approximately 100 feet southeast of Bender Avenue. The road will be closed to all through traffic and is tentatively scheduled to reopen on May 13, weather permitting. Hamilton Mason Road and Grand Boulevard will remain open until the final weeks of construction. Federally and locally funded by the Ohio Department of Transportation, the BCEO, and the city of Hamilton, the multi-phased construction project will improve the five-road intersection by converting it to a single-lane roundabout with curb and gutter, storm sewer installation, and new pedestrian facilities. With the lowest bid of $2,239,639, Rack & Ballauer Excavating will build the roundabout, scheduled for completion by the end of July 2022. Hancock Avenue (Phase 1) Detour: Northwest-bound Hancock Avenue traffic will detour west on Grand Boulevard and north on Harmon Avenue. Southeast-bound traffic will reverse this route.
Near Newport until Sep 2. Districtwide bridge repair project. The project includes rehabilitating the bridges over Eggleston Avenue and Culvert Street by repairing the substructure, painting steel girders and replacing expansion joints. The Eagle Bridge Company was awarded a contract for approximately $2.27 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed by early summer of 2022.
Near Mack until Jun 30. Replace and repair three culverts on state Route 264 (Bridgetown Road) in Hamilton County. Crews will be rehabilitating two structures located between Cleves and El Vista Drive and near Moonridge Drive, respectively, and although a start date for work at either site has yet to be outlined, it is anticipated that construction will begin in early spring of next year. Prus Construction Company was awarded a contract for approximately $163,187 to rehab all three culverts, and all work is scheduled for completion in late summer of 2022.
Near Wetherington until Nov 30. Butler County Engineers Office - reconfigure the interchange of S.R. 129 at Liberty Way and I-75. The two-season project involves the extension of S.R. 129 east to a roundabout at Cox Road, north of Liberty Way. Existing ramp connections will also be reconfigured along with the construction of a new bridge. Additional ramp paving has been included in this project. Crews will start on the west side of the roundabout installation on Cox Road, which will remain open to The Christ Hospital. Bridge and westbound S.R. 129 and northbound I-75 on-ramp work will also occur in that vicinity with minimal construction on S.R. 129 itself. Traffic will be maintained for most of the construction period, especially in the early phases. Sunesis Construction, which submitted the low bid of $24,516,510, will perform the S.R. 129/Liberty Way/I-75 Interchange Modification project. The project is tentatively scheduled to be completed in November 2022.
Near Woodsdale Park until Jul 31. Resurfacing for the addition of a right-turn lane from Liberty-Fairfield Road to southbound state Route 4. On Wednesday, April 27, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation started resurfacing Liberty-Fairfield Road at the S.R. 4 intersection, and lane closures will in effect daily from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through approximately late-May. The entire project calls for resurfacing and restriping Liberty-Fairfield Road to add a southbound right-turn lane onto S.R. 4, as well as modifying the traffic signal at the intersection. Traffic will be maintained in the work zone throughout construction. The John R. Jurgensen Company was awarded a contract for approximately $208,196 to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. All work will be contingent upon the weather. Near The Village of Indian Hill until Aug 31. Install fiber optic cable and CCTV cameras at multiple locations along the corridor in Hamilton and Clermont counties. Over the course of the next few months, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be installing single-mode fiber optic cable and CCTV cameras at various sites between the I-74 and U.S. 27 interchanges; between the U.S. 22/Montgomery Road and S.R. 28 interchanges; and between the S.R. 32 and U.S. 52 interchanges. Traffic will be maintained through the various work zones; however, motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution in the affected areas. Bansal Construction, Inc. was awarded the $3.5 million contract, and all work is scheduled to be complete in early summer 2022. (#203002)
Near Dillonvale until Aug 31. Slide repair project on state Route 126 at the city of Reading corporation limit. Work on a slide repair project on state Route 126 at the city of Reading corporation limit requires daily lane restrictions in place on the route. Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation have begun daily lane closures on S.R. 126, just east of the Ridge Road/Columbia Avenue interchange, to mobilize equipment onto the project site. Traffic will be maintained in the work zone. Sunesis Construction Co. was awarded a contract for $461,000 to repair the slide and perform related culvert outlet work, and all work is scheduled to be completed by late fall of 2022. (#22--54)
Near Sixteen Mile Stand until Jun 1, 2023. Restrictions will be in place on Fields-Ertel Road two nights this week as part of the interchange expansion project at Mason-Montgomery Road and southbound Interstate 71 in Warren County. On Wednesday and Thursday, May 18 and 19, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will close Fields-Ertel Road under I-71 to place formwork for the new structure that is being built as part of the project. The closure will go into effect at 11 p.m. each night, and the route will be reopened at 5 a.m. the following day. While Fields-Ertel is closed, motorists will be detoured via Escort Drive and Mason-Montgomery Road. Along with a new bridge over Fields-Ertel, the total project includes construction of an entrance ramp from Mason-Montgomery Road to I-71 South; a new southbound turn lane on Mason-Montgomery from Escort Drive to the ramp; and an entrance taper on I-71 South, between the Fields-Ertel Road bridge and the existing ramp from Fields-Ertel. The Eagle Bridge Company was awarded a contract for approximately $4.7 million to undertake the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed by late spring of 2023. (#21-301)
Near Glendale until May 30, 2025. Interstate 75/Thru the Valley mega project. As part of the Interstate 75/Thru the Valley project, the following overnight lane and ramp closures will be in effect on Interstate 75 and at the Sharon Road exit this week. On Monday, May 23, the ramp from Sharon Road to I-75 South will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 24. Then, on the following night, the ramp from Sharon to I-75 North will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 25. In addition to the ramp closures, single-lane closures will be in effect in either direction from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night. Motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution in the affected areas. All work will be contingent upon the weather. (#21--43)
Near Sharonville until Oct 31. Operations have resumed for a safety and interchange improvement project on U.S. Route 42 (Lebanon Road) at Interstate 275 in Sharonville, and restrictions will be imparted as part of the next phase of construction. On Friday, April 1, Hauck Road was closed for up to 90 days while contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation replace a culvert and conduct roadway improvements at the railroad crossing near the Reading Road intersection. The project, which began last year, has been rolled out in two parts, with Part 1 calling for he addition of a dedicated right thru-lane on southbound U.S. 42 at Hauck Road and ramp improvements at the I-275 interchange. Part 2 includes widening Hauck Road to three lanes to add a center, two-way, left-turn lane, as well as curb and gutter installation; culvert replacement; railroad crossing improvements; storm sewer system replacement; and sidewalk construction on the north side of Hauck Road. It is during Part 2 construction that Hauck Road will be closed, and while it is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of Reading Road, Kemper Road and U.S. 42 (Lebanon Road). Complete General Construction Co. was awarded a contract for approximately $8.9 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in early fall of 2022. 341(21)
